After a harrowingly windy (gusts up to 60 mph) drive, Connie got us to the Grand Canyon where we peeled her fingers off the steering wheel. It took all three of us to do that! We can't complain about the weather we've had, though. We've seen rain one day and that was at Mt Rushmore, eons ago. Now we see that Wyoming and Montana are going to be hit with a lot of snow, even closing the interstates. We are sooooo lucky.
Saying that the Grand Canyon is breathtaking is an understatement although it really does take your breath away (the height alone scares the bejeebers out of you). If you can visit one place in this country, this should be it. Absolutely spectacular. So beautiful that pictures do not do it justice. We spent all afternoon there, driving from one overlook to the next. As sunset approached we looked up and there was the full moon rising above the canyon. God put an exclamation point on his work. Stunning.
We're in Flagstaff, AZ tonight. Not sure where the wind will blow us tomorrow.

NEWS FLASH! The committee that commissioned the 4Amigos as "ambassadors of shag" is holding an emergency meeting on 10-8-09. It has been noted that there have been "0" (zero) pictures posted on the 4amigos blog showing they are fulfilling their duties as "ambassadors of shag" on their “great adventure.” The two voting members on this committee are split in half on "stripping the 4Amigos of their title" on the above date. It should be noted that one committee member has great persuasive power over the other voting member, and is willing to give the 4Amigos...one last chance, before taking this drastic action. Since it is apparent that the 4Amigos are NOT fulfilling your duties, one committee member is trying to get you "stripped of your title","barred" from the shag dance AND "expelled" from the upcoming highly coveted intermediate shag lessons. Fake...posed pictures of you pretending to shag in front of a building are not acceptable. Actual picture of you on the dance floor being cheered on by on-lookers is the only acceptable picture. REDEEM YOURSELVES 4AMIGOS!
ReplyDeleteHELP! Help us, other committee member. There are extenuating circumstances. Our night life is almost non-existent and the music out west is quite different than Carolina shag. We beg of y'all to grant us a continuance, at least 'til we get into Texas, where we can teach those 2-step heathens a thing or two about dancin'. Your considerations will be most appreciated.
